Department of Botany
About the Department
For I. B.Sc., Zoology, one allied subject is Allied Botany. Major Zoology was stated in our colllege during the year 1985-1986 with the strength of 20 students.
The students were having non-semester pattern upto 1988-89. The semester pattern is following from the year 1989 to till date.
After attaining the autonomous status during the year 2004-05, the syllabus is redesigned and updated according to the local needs to fetch self employment.
Choice Based Credit System was introduced in the college during the year 2005-2006. The instruction hours for allied courses have been reduced from 18 to 15. According to the needs, Credits and instruction hours, the syllabus for allied botany course have been redesigned emphasizing the job oriented, enterpreneurship programmes.
To encourage women entrepreneur, graduates umeployed women graduate and housewives and to venture low cost technologies, some topics and units have been introduced.
For allied botany course, the students have to complete 3 papers during the first year degree programme.
- I Semester - Allied Botany Course -I - 100 Marks
- II Semester - Allied Botany Course -II (practical) - 100 Marks
- II Semester - Allied Botany Course -III - 100 Marks
- Total 300 Marks
Now the students strenfth is 40 with one teaching staff and one technical staff (Zoology Department laboratory Assistant)
Since autonomy is introduced, wehave got freedom to reorient the curruculum contest every year, with the advice of subject experts of Board of Studies, emphasizing the women entrepreneur programmes, thereby fulfulling the goal of our institution - Women Empowerment.
Facilities
- Zoology laboratory is utilized by the students for practical purposes
- To teach innovative programmes, A.V. Room in the college is utilized by the staff members.
