History of the Department


The department has been a comprehensive learning centre of chemistry giving Under graduate, Post graduate and Ph.D research programmes.
The department of chemistry was established in the year 1975 as a Government aided undergraduate department, offering B.Sc chemistry. The post graduate programme  was started in 2004 offering M.Sc degree in chemistry under the unaided stream. It was upgraded to a recognized research department in the year 2002, with a vision to be recognized as department of excellence with a strong teaching base in chemistry with active collaboration with Industries and Institution. The department has distinguished itself as a centre for innovative &pioneering research in a wide range of areas in chemistry
Faculty members are having expertise in contemporary research areas such as crystal growth, solid state chemistry, green chemistry, agricultural chemistry, and supra molecular chemistry and phyto chemistry. The department has successfully produced 19 doctorates and several M.Phil scholars. The department aims in developing academically competent and professionally motivated women leaders, who compassionately faster the scientific temper with a sense of social responsibility.
The department has received funds to a tune of Rs 15 Lakhs for research projects Since inception the faculties and research scholars of the department have published many research papers in International  and national journals and  presented in various conferences
The department has shaped so many young minds to excel in the field of chemistry. The speciality of this department lies in its very rich alumni strength and placement in different academic and non academics fields.
The department is equipped with well furnished laboratory with sophisticated instruments.

  • PG students are trained by attending Intenship programme at CPCL and ONGC.
  • Every year we are conducting Chemistry Expo and Women Centered Programmes and Industrial Visits are arranged for students.

Objectives
